copywriting

what it does

When the user wants to write, rewrite, or improve marketing copy for any page, including homepage, landing pages, pricing pages, feature pages, about pages, or product pages. Also use when the user says "write copy for," "improve this copy," "rewrite this page," "marketing copy," "headline help," "CTA copy," "value proposition," "tagline," "hero section copy," "this copy is weak," "this sounds like AI," "AI slop," "make it sound human," or "help me describe my product." Drafts never use AI tells like "it's not X, it's Y" reveals, "no X, no Y, no Z" lists, or sentences that trail into extra comma clauses. For email copy, see emails. For popup copy, see popups. For editing existing copy, see copy-editing. For the offer underneath the copy (bonuses, guarantees, value framing), see offers. Claims must be supportable, and a declined claim names the evidence that would unlock it. Diagnoses the input first (blank brief, real voice, or point edit) and changes only what it calls for.

Same request, same model, once with the skill and once without. Read both and judge for yourself.

“Can you make this homepage hero better? I wrote it myself and it feels rough. Headline: Your agency doesn't need another dashboard. It needs to get paid. Subhead: We got sick of chasing clients for money, so we built the thing that does it for us. Invoices go out when the work ships. Late payers get nagged. You get your evenings back. CTA: Try it free”

with the skill
**Diagnosis: B.** You already have a voice and a position: founder-built, tired of chasing money, mildly sarcastic about dashboards. I kept your vocabulary ("sick of," "nagged," "evenings back") and changed very little. ## Revised hero **Headline:** Your invoices should chase themselves. **Subhead:** We got sick of chasing clients for money, so we built invoicing that does it for us. Invoices go out when the work ships. Late payers get nagged. You get your evenings back. **CTA:** Try it free ## What changed and why **Headline.** This is the one real edit. "Doesn't need X. It needs Y." is the most recognizable AI-copy shape, and readers who spot it start discounting the claims around it. The new line states the outcome directly and passes the "Now you can…" test: now you can have invoices chase themselves. If the dashboard jab matters to you, I'd move it into body copy further down the page rather than keep it in the headline. **Subhead.** I changed "the thing" to "invoicing." Your reader should know the product category by the end of the first sentence, and right now they only learn it by inference from sentence two. Everything else stays. The short sentences ("Late payers get nagged.") are how you talk, and the last line is a concrete benefit rather than a slogan. **CTA.** I left it alone. "Try it free" is fine, and it gets better if it says what they'll do. If the free plan lets them send a real invoice, "Send your first invoice free" is stronger. If it's a trial, "Start my free trial" is more accurate. ## Options if you want to test headlines

- **A (recommended):** Your invoices should chase themselves. It's concrete and shows the mechanism. - **B:** Stop chasing clients for money. This uses your own pain language and is the plainest version. - **C:** Keep your original. It has the most personality, and the contrast structure is its only drawback. ## What I need from you - `[NEED: what "ships" means]`: What triggers the invoice? A task marked done, a project-tool integration, a milestone? Naming it in the subhead ("when the task is marked done in Asana") would be the strongest line on the page. - `[NEED: proof]`: One real number from actual users (days-to-paid before and after, hours saved per month) would do more than any rewrite. I won't invent one. - `[NEED: CTA terms]`: Confirm whether it's a free plan or a trial, and whether a card is required. If no card is needed, add "No card required" under the button.
without
Your draft is stronger than you think. The headline has a clear point of view and the voice is human. The roughness is mostly in the subhead, which gets vague ("the thing") and a little list-like, and in a CTA that could do more work. ## Revised version **Headline:** Your agency doesn't need another dashboard. It needs to get paid. **Subhead:** We got sick of chasing clients for money, so we built something that does it for us. Invoices go out the moment work ships, overdue payments get followed up automatically, and you get your evenings back. **CTA:** Start getting paid faster *(Optional microcopy under the button: Free for 14 days. No card required.)* ## What I changed and why - **Kept the headline.** It's specific, a little contrarian, and speaks to the real pain. I'd only change it if testing shows it isn't landing. - **"The thing" became "something that does it for us."** Still casual, but "the thing" makes readers wonder what the product actually is. - **Combined the three short sentences into one.** The staccato rhythm (*Invoices go out. Late payers get nagged. You get...*) is punchy, but three in a row feels like a feature list. One flowing sentence reads more confidently. - **"Late payers get nagged" became "overdue payments get followed up automatically."** "Nagged" is fun, but it can make your product sound annoying to the agency's clients, and your users care about their client relationships. If you want to keep the personality, "Late payers get politely hounded" works. - **Changed the CTA to be benefit-led.** "Try it free" is fine but generic. Tying the button to the outcome usually lifts clicks. Put the "free" part in the microcopy so you don't lose it.

## Alternative subhead if you want it punchier > We got sick of chasing clients for money, so we automated it. Invoices send when work ships. Late payers get followed up. You get your evenings back. This keeps your original rhythm, and just tightens the first line. If you tell me what the product actually connects to (Asana, Stripe, QuickBooks, etc.) and what the trial terms are, I can make the subhead more concrete. Specifics like "when a task is marked done in Asana" usually beat any amount of clever phrasing.

“Write a homepage hero (headline, subhead, CTA) and a short launch post for X for our Shopify inventory app. It installs from the Shopify App Store in one click, needs no signup form or credit card, and runs low-stock alerts, reorder emails, and supplier purchase orders off the product and sales data the store already has, so there's nothing to import.”
